Our Writers' Rooms are sub-communities of the Iowa Writers' House house that bring together writers of shared interests or genres to free-write, respond to prompts, learn together, and find support for their work.
Why join a Room?
Find Your COMMUNITY
Forming or joining a Writers' Room is an opportunity to find people whose literary interests intersect with yours. Often the difference between writers who regularly produce work and those who don’t is the presence of having a supportive and encouraging community behind them.
Monthly Write-In Opportunities
Writers' Rooms have the opportunity to organize monthly write-in events where members can get together to ideate and write in solidarity. We help with reserving ongoing space within the community, inclusion on the website calendar, marketing of meet-up times, and recruiting new members.
Writers' Rooms can make suggestions for the larger programming including ideas for workshops and lectures. They can also schedule additional meetings and social opportunities that can be included on the central IWH calendar.
Room Members are an integral part of the heartbeat of our community.
As ideas and opportunities develop, you'll be the first to know!
Each Room will have two concierges as part of the group. These leaders facilitate discussion, organize room programming, and work directly with the Room Coordinators to develop the community.
