What exactly is a literary magazine, what is their role in the literary world, and how can you get published in one? In this session, the managing editor of The Iowa Review will share inside stories of her sixteen years with one of the country’s most distinguished literary magazines. You’ll become familiar not only with TIR but also a number of other top literary magazines and receive personalized advice on where to send your work. What’s a slush pile? What can Submittable do for you? What are the spoken and unspoken rules of the editor-writer relationship? What’s an editing career like? How can I start my own lit mag? Bring all your questions to this informative gathering.
